As I hiked the beautiful countryside of Monroe County today, I came upon an amazing gift. Sculpted in the limestone that speckles this sacred ground was a breathtaking heart! This work of art was filled with dirt and sediment with one lone rock resting in its center. An amazing red stain surrounded its circumference-the only color of its kind in this mystical rock garden. I gazed at this imperfect yet perfect Heart of Stone with child-like wonder! My heart resonated with this earthly heart as I understood its message. I was reminded that our human hearts too, have weathered the storms of life with debris and sediment deposited from times of loss and heartache. Yet, much like this natural sculpture, our hearts are still magnificent works of art filled with character and beauty, growing stronger and more resilient with each season that we weather.
